Polish Pickup: Everything is Fine (December 2020)
Hello friends! Since February's PPU is coming up, I decided it'd be too late if I procrastinated on my December 2020 PPU post any longer. The theme for the month had been 'Everything is Fine', to commemorate the difficult year that 2020 was. So, without further ado, here are swatches and nail art featuring all of my December 2020 PPU purchases.
Descriptions of polishes were taken from their official descriptions during the PPU shopping period. Polishes are listed in alphabetical order by brand.
Dreamland Lacquer - All Wine All the Time
All Wine All the Time is described as a a warm purple jelly base with red and pink iridescent flakes and scattered holo. For me, both the holographic dust easily peeked out between the flakes, and the polish overall had a very glittering effect. The formula was easy to work with - no running or pooling, and also easily buildable. This was my second time polishing with Dreamland, and they're definitely rising on my list of favorites!
Shown is two coats with glossy top coat.
Fair Maiden Polish - Trailblazer
Trailblazer is described as a black to red multichrome scattered with holo flakes. I was super excited to get this polish because 1. It was inspired by and an ode to the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is an icon, and 2. It's my first red to black multichrome polish. The red to black mulitchrome shift pigment became really popular at the end of last year, and I couldn't resist hopping on the trend. The formula was easy to work with, and the shift was also stunning in person. My photos are a little out of focus because they were struggling with the light setup I had to photograph the mulitchrome shift, but the colors are deep and the holographic flakes give the perfect extra oomph.
Shown are two coats with glossy top coat.
KBShimmer - Cats & Pajamas
Cats & Pajamas is described as a blue-leaning gray crelly base flecked with glowing holo flakes an d color-shifting flakes shifting between fuchsia, pink and orange. This was a lovely polish to work with - the light base led to an easily visible shift with the flakes, and it was definitely a light grey crelly. The formula leaned a bit on the thicker side, but it was very easy to work with and easily buildable.
Shown is two coats with glossy top coat, as well as an abstract nail art look paired with All Wine All the Time.
Pahlish - What Would Carol Baskin Do?
Last up in my roundup is Pahlish's What Would Carol Baskin Do, or a dramatic raspberry pink metallic multichrome that shifts through copper and green. I really loved the base for this mulitchrome (if you couldn't tell, I love pinks), but I would say the mulitchrome properties don't show as easily as they do for some of the other multichromes that I have. I had to adjust my light angles to be pretty extreme for the copper shift to show, but take this with a grain of salt since I may have missed something obvious when playing with this polish. The formula was smooth and easy to work with - brush strokes were minimal, which is awesome for mulitchromes like this.
Shown is three coats with glossy top coat, and a wavy abstract nail art design that I'm going to start doing with all of my mulitchrome polishes. For the shift, my macro is the best reference.
Thanks for reading, and have a lovely day!
XOXO,
Lauren
