Polished for Days: Haunted Collection

Hi lovelies! It's Thanksgiving break for me right now, so I decided to get back into writing blog posts. I know I discontinued my weekly mani recaps in October because school got in the way, but maybe I'll get to catch up a bit during this break.

A while ago, I purchased the Polished for Days Haunted collection, and shared a series of swatches and nail art using the polishes. I've compiled the images and also put in some of my thoughts below - if you're thinking about purchasing any of them during Black Friday, maybe this will help you decide what to get :)

Descriptions of each polish were taken from the Polished for Days website in an effort to relay accurate descriptions.

Ghost Host

First up is Ghost Host, a bright orange jelly base packed with pink-yellow-green iridescent shifting flakes. This polish was so so fiery in person, and the flakies really made the bright orange pop. My swatches really don't show how sparkly the flakies were - while they do give a bit of a metallic-like look, they do sparkle in the light. I promise they look great in indoor lighting, and they even look great when paired with florals🌺

Swatches were done with three thin coats plus topcoat.

Foolish Mortals

Next is the gorgeous blue Foolish Mortals, a navy crelly base packed with pink-yellow-green iridescent shifting flakes.

The dark base with these flakies were absolutely stunning - I tend not to gravitate towards darker blues, but this is definitely one I'll be picking up again. Red-purple glints paired with the jelly-like navy was a perfect fall-to-winter polish. I thought it'd pair well with a bluebird image, so I used another water decal image for the nail art paired with this polish💙

Grim Grinning Ghost

Grim Grinning Ghost was a stunning tinted charcoal base packed with orange-yellow-green shifting iridescent flakes and holographic micro flakes. This color just screams holographic, shifty goodness, and the base really helps all of the particles twinkle.

I wanted to create a sparkling stem/leaf freehand mani with this polish, so I attempted to pair it with a bright yellow. I do think the color combo could have been better, but the fact that the mani doesn't look horrible says a lot about how great Grim Grinning Ghost is as a supporting polish.

I used three thin coats for my swatches, but I think you can see a bit of my nail line in my macro shot - to be honest, I didn't even realize my nail line was visible until I was editing the photo later. The sparkly goodness of the polish is definitely enough of a distractor in person.

999

Here she comes! My favorite of the whole collection, and probably one of my favorite Polished for Days polishes ever. 999 is a sheer, pale blurple base with a strong orange-gold-green iridescent shifting shimmer. Basically, it glows in all lightings and is a gorgeous multichrome that makes it hard for me to stop staring at my nails in public. She's been on both my main hand and my cindy hand already, so you know she's a keeper!

I really cannot rave enough about this polish - the formula is great, it doesn't streak, and the color is one that I think is universally flattering on all skin tones. If you decide you can only buy one polish from this collection, I highly recommend 999!

I used three thin coats for my swatches, and again I noticed a bit of my nail line on them after I started editing photos. It really isn't an issue in person because the polish itself is so mesmerizing, but I think the sheer/lighter base maybe contributes to the visible nail line in harsh lighting.

For my 999-based nail art, I stamped a blue-purple abstract design to match the lavender-leaning blurple base, and also paired it with Foolish Mortals. This is probably one of my favorite nail art designs to date!

The Bride

The Bride is the only crelly from this collection, a nude crelly base with blue-purple shifting chrome flakes. The dark blue flakes contrasted with the light base is definitely a unique pairing, and I liked it on my nails a lot more than I expected myself to.

For its nail art pair, I attempted to do a hologram-like city skyline using 999, but the whole design ended up just looking a bit abstract. I'm not super happy with the outcome, but at least I've learned 1 design that I shouldn't attempt again😅

Additionally, because of my lighting placement the lighting on my nail art shot is a lot yellower than what it looked in real life - my swatch is a more accurate representation of the base color.

Swatches shown were three thin coats plus topcoat.

Dying to Have You

Dying to Have You was my first time working with a magnetic polish, and I'll have to say, for a magnetic polish it's very forgiving and easy to work with. The polish is a a magnetic topper with green-yellow-orange to green shifting iridescent flakes and a silvery-pale purple magnetic line.

I didn't use a nail art magnet to get my magnet line, which is why the line itself is not that strong (I used a random magnet ring that was lying around in my house), but I think if I tried again I'd be much better at manipulating the magnetic image. Even so, there's a bit of a visible silver line, so the magnetic effect didn't fail entirely! Also, the green flakies are so stunning that you don't really need the magnet line to have the topper be beautiful.

Shown are two coats over Painted Polish's Autumn Twilight 2.0, plus topcoat.

I hope you enjoyed these swatches and nail art looks - I had so much fun creating them! As always, you can find me on Instagram. Have a happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping season❤️

XOXO,

Lauren
