For the Love of Polish Box: September 2020

Hello hello! I recently made my first ever polish box purchase with the September For the Love of Polish (FTLOP) box! This was a super exciting moment for me, so of course I couldn't resist swatching and doing a couple nail art designs with these polishes. FTLOP's September theme was the Great British Bakeoff, and the guest maker was Rogue Lacquer.

Swatches

First up is Star Baker by Pahlish. This is described as a bright pink jelly with a mix of iridescent flakes and shimmers, platinum silver flakes, and scattered holo flakes. The polish is super jam packed with flakes, and the color is nice and bright. I used 3 coats to achieve full opacity, and the formula leaned a bit more on the thick side.

Next is Nobody Likes a Soggy Bottom by Rogue Lacquer. This is described as a minty green holo with blue, magenta, and purple UCC flakes. The blue flakes are definitely the strongest and most prominent, but that might also be an effect of the other two flakes having blue-leaning hues as well. The formula for this polish was fantastic and my favorite of the three - it was a slightly thinner formula but really opaque and easy to work with. I used two coats for full opacity.

Finally, we have Showstopper by Polished for Days. This is described as a deep purple base packed with orange-yellow green shifting iridescent flakes. It feels like a jelly-leaning crelly on application, and the flakes are well populated and easy to work with. Showstopper was the polish that initially drew me to this box and convinced me to buy it - the purple base is stunning, and so are the flakes. When I wore this polish, I couldn't stop staring at my nails whenever I went outside. I used three coats to achieve opacity.

Nail Art

With these gorgeous polishes, I couldn't resist making a couple nail art looks! First up is a floral gem design, using Nobody Likes a Soggy Bottom and Star Baker. Star Baker has the perfect sheen for a sparkling gem-like look, and it contrasted well with the slightly softer hue of Nobody Likes a Soggy Bottom.

With showstopper, I was inspired to do an abstract design after looking at a similar mani by @justpaintednails on Instagram. I used WakeMake's Mauve Brown for the beige creme base, and Painted Polish's Autumn Twilight 2.0 for the dark purple dots. This is probably one of my favorite fall color combos this season so far!

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed these looks!

XOXO,
Lauren
